NW Hearts Charity has awarded funding to the Cardiology Department at Wythenshawe Hospital to upgrade the seminar room into a fully equipped AV (audio-visual) room.

Currently, the department’s ability to engage in telemedicine is hampered by outdated meeting room equipment. This deficiency limits the capacity to conduct complex case reviews, remote consultations, and collaborate with other experts and specialists, or colleagues in the region.

The funding will make a meaningful difference by providing modern, reliable AV technology that supports high-definition video and clear audio. For example, patient images from cardiac MRI and CT scans can be projected onto a very large screen so all involved can see the part of the heart that’s not working properly. 

Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Anna Reid (pictured with her colleagues), said:

We are so grateful to NW Hearts Charity to have funded this grant. The AV room will provide communication between the many hospitals in the MFT group, foster communication between all care teams, and improve how we work together; all for patient benefits. When we have care team meetings we can dial patients in so they can see us and we can see them.
