Singing from the Heart
Local charity, NW Hearts Charity has partnered up with Intergenerational Music Making to deliver a unique and uplifting project to those living with heart disease. Through a generous grant of £12,000 from NW Hearts Charity, a 6-week programme of music sessions will be offered across the Greater Manchester region.
Emily Abbott, Programme Director of IMM emphasised the importance of this project; “Through the power of music, singing, creativity and community, we aim to promote free expression, support wellbeing, reduce stress and foster a sense of connection. We are extremely grateful to NW Hearts Charity for their kind support in making our ‘Singing from the Heart’ intergenerational music project possible. More details about the Manchester based sessions will follow soon.”
Representing NW Hearts Charity, Sue Martin, Operations Manager said “We are excited to be launching this project. The music programme will provide participants with regular sessions including guided listening, singing and interactive music-making. These activities are known to have a calming effect, reducing anxiety and stress levels, which are critical factors for individuals with heart disease. We hope that the project will also provide a platform for participants to connect with others facing similar health challenges and find mutual support.”
