The annual Manchester Moving conference is the ideal opportunity for organisations from all 10 Boroughs of Greater Manchester to come together to share, progress and consider how to get the people of Greater Manchester to become more active in their daily lives and, thus, improve the health of the region. This year, the event was held at The Lowry theatre and Sue and Cristina were proud to represent NW Hearts Charity. Sue spoke about the fears of people with heart disease to recommence exercise following discharge from hospital, whilst Cristina met a range of NHS, community and business partners to develop collaborations with. Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham gave a resounding speech highlighting some of the work that has been achieved recently and the delegates were treated to a medley of dance routines performed by local groups. Amongst the work, there was time for Sue and Cristina to try a sport new to them – Archery (luckily with plastic pointed arrows as they missed the target!)
