At our inaugural evening ICD support group in South Manchester, we welcomed 45 patients and carers.

The attendees came together at Wythenshawe Forum to hear Mike Connolly, former Consultant Nurse in Supportive and Palliative Care, MFT, give an inspirational and engaging presentation focusing on the emotional aspects of having an ICD or being the carer of someone with a device.

Many patients and carers bravely shared their experiences and emotions, and the group acknowledged the invaluable benefit that came with meeting other people in similar circumstances.

The specialist ICD nurses were kept busy with individual questions asked privately.

Our next support group will be held at Middleton Lighthouse on Thursday 15th October at 2pm – 4pm.
