Thanks to funding from Studiotech, based in Bredbury, NW Hearts Charity has delivered a series of three Heart Health sessions in Tameside, helping local people learn more about looking after their heart health and what to do in a heart health emergency.
Participants received practical information in a friendly and accessible way. The sessions covered important topics linked to heart health, including recognising risk factors, lifestyles and diet, and building confidence around lifesaving skills such as CPR and the use of defibrillators.
The sessions were arranged with the support of local partners Age UK Tameside and Diversity Matters, who helped bring people together and make sure the sessions reached communities who could benefit from them.
Cristina Tanner, Partnerships Manager of NW Hearts Charity said:
“We are very grateful to Studiotech for funding this project. Heart Health in the community is one of NW Hearts Charities’ core objectives, and it’s wonderful when we can link businesses to support our community work. Not only does the community benefit from heart health education and new skills, but this work also supports social values; therefore, businesses benefit greatly as well. It’s fantastic to see the results of businesses and charities working together in this way to benefit the wider community”.
Paul Haythornthwaite, Account Director at Studiotech said:
“I met Cristina at a Social Value training workshop and this is the first event that we have engaged with NW Hearts Charity on. I was very impressed at the level of engagement I saw from the participants who attended the Heart Health Sessions in Tameside and look forward to working with the charity again on future projects.”
NW Hearts Charity will continue working with local partners to support people across Greater Manchester to better understand their heart health and feel more confident in emergency situations. Please contact office@nwhearts.org for more details.
