New wheelchairs help heart patients at Wythenshawe Hospital

NW Hearts Charity has given a grant to the Catheter Lab at Wythenshawe Hospital to buy two new wheelchairs.

These wheelchairs help heart patients move safely and comfortably in the Catheter Lab and nearby areas.

Why this matters

Before, staff sometimes had to spend time looking for a wheelchair. This could slow things down for patients.

The new wheelchairs help to:

  • Move patients more easily and safely
  • Reduce waiting times
  • Make patients more comfortable
  • Save staff time so they can focus on care

What staff say

Tina Hadjiyiannis, Cardiology Matron at Wythenshawe Hospital, said:

“The two wheelchairs donated by NW Hearts Charity have had a positive impact on both staff and patients within the Catheter Lab and associated areas. With reliable access to these additional wheelchairs, we have improved patient flow and reduced waiting times whilst improving comfort and safety for patients.”

What NW Hearts Charity says

James White, Chief Executive of NW Hearts Charity, said:

“Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference. These wheelchairs help patients feel safer and more comfortable, and they help staff care for people more quickly. We’re really pleased to support the team at Wythenshawe Hospital.”

Making a difference

By funding practical items like wheelchairs, NW Hearts Charity helps hospitals give better care every day to people with heart conditions.
