Unpaid carers across Stockport with heart conditions will be able to benefit from additional support, thanks to new funding from NW Hearts Charity.
Signpost for Carers has received funding to expand its Take a Break service, providing quality respite care so unpaid carers can confidently attend their own important health appointments relating to heart disease, including cardiac checks. This collaborative project aims to improve the health, wellbeing, and confidence of unpaid
carers, ensuring they feel supported while continuing their vital role for a loved one.
To ensure consistency and high-quality support, this service will be delivered in partnership with Care Your Way Stockport, a local care company led by Mike Lee, who is passionate about providing personalised, compassionate care.
Bethan Kelly, Chief Executive at Signpost for Carers, said,
“Carers play a crucial part in supporting those living with heart conditions, but often neglect
their own health needs. We’re incredibly grateful to NW Hearts Charity for recognising the
vital role unpaid carers play in our community. This funding will make a real difference,
giving carers peace of mind that their loved ones are receiving high-quality care while they
take the time they need to look after their own health and wellbeing.”
Mike Lee, from delivery partner Care Your Way Stockport said,
“Our team is proud to deliver this service. We understand the trust carers place in us, and
we’re committed to providing care that’s compassionate, reliable, and tailored to each
family’s needs.”
James White, Chief Executive of NW Hearts Charity, added,
“We’re proud to back a project that gives unpaid carers the chance to care for their own hearts too. Supporting their wellbeing helps strengthen families and communities, and it’s exactly the kind of impact NW Hearts Charity aims to make.”
